Black Moor Goldfish

The black moor goldfish is a beautiful velvety black color with metallic gold on the edges of the scales and the belly.

This goldfish is of the veiltail variety and has a long flowing tail. It can have telescoping eyes, although not as prominent as the telescope eye goldfish.

Although these goldfish look delicate, the black moor are actually quite hardy and are suitable for outdoor ponds as they can be kept in temperatures near freezing. In the aquarium, you’ll want to keep the temps around 65 – 72 degrees F. The black moor are gentle in nature and will work well in a tank with other fancy goldfish.

These goldfish are quite sought after for the aquarium but are also quite inexpensive and easy to find. They can reach up to 8″ in length in a large aquarium and can live for more than 10 years.

Black Moor are easy to care and only require proper water quality, food and space in order to live a long and healthy life. Goldfish are best kept in a short rectangular tank of 30 gallons or more. The tank should have adequate filtration but not anything that creates too much of a current. Keep water temperature between 65 and 72 degrees F. Perform partial water changes monthly. Putting too many goldfish in a tank can have adverse affects on the fish’s health it is recommended that you have at least 7 gallons per fish.
